This was possibly the biggest experience of my Photography career so far. I got the opportunity to go to the O2 arena in London to photograph a Live show. Thanks to DJ Nore for inviting me along to it.
What an experience – having a media pass at the O2. Being able to go into the pit to photograph the acts, the biggest of which was Shatta Wale. This is easily the biggest event I have currently been to and worked at. It could’ve been so easy to be overwhelmed, but I just stuck to what I knew and got my head down in the settings and snapped away.
My main gear setup was a Canon 5Diii with a Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8, one of my favourite combinations as it allows me to get images that are slightly different to what others get with the industry standard 70-200mm f/2.8. Other lenses used were a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 and a Canon 50mm f/1.4. I also sometimes put on a Canon 550EX Flashgun to help with low light crowd shots and profiles. There were plenty of spotlights and backlights for shots of acts without needing a flash, especially with having apertures wider than f/2 being able to let in more of those lights.
